Serene Taos Ski & Mountain Bike Retreat with Stunning Views — Upper Level

The serene Taos Ski and Mountain Bike home is a quiet 2 acre sanctuary with expansive views of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range to the edge of the Rio Grande river. The house is a split level duplex. Each level is fully private. You enter the upper property. You enter into the main room where Taos Mountain can be seen to your left while the Rio Hondo is 1 km in the distance. The Rio Hondo drains the melting snow from the Taos Ski Valley Resort located just 2O minutes up the road. Take in the views from the deck or sit back in the sofa with a warm fire in the wood stove. The master bedroom has a California King bed, full bath with subway tiles on two walls allowing for ample natural light into the space.

The oversized kitchen has all the amenities and utensils you need to cook a delicious meal, including a full set of pots and pans, cookware, dinnerware, flatware, serving ware, drink ware, and linens. Please help yourself to organic coffee, popcorn and pasta in the jars on the counter. You can choose to make coffee in three ways: pour over, an Italian Bialetti or a French press.

The wifi is strong and was trenched to the house so it would be as secure and consistent as possible. When working remotely, you will be able to download documents, stream movies, live events and Zoom.

Taos Ski Valley has been featured in Outside Magazine's 2023 list of Best Places to Visit in the U.S. for Adventure! "Aside from its reputation for driving change, the main reason skiers flock to this resort in northern New Mexico is for the uncrowded, low-key vibe. That and the quick hike to steep chutes off the West Basin, bird’s-eye views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains from atop 12,481-foot Kachina Peak, and the green-chile-stuffed breakfast burritos. . ." Outside Magazine.

Serene and beautiful views
My stay here was comfortable and very peaceful; the views are incredible and I enjoyed having my morning coffee watching mule deer and many varieties of birds. Sky watching was most enjoyable, too … loved the afternoon storms and observing the stars. The home itself is clean, simple and has most everything you’ll need (I loved the well-stocked kitchen). This will be a very happy memory for me.

Breathtaking Views and Great Base Camp for Exploring the Taos Area
For starters, the pictures are accurate. The house sits on a ridge overlooking the Arroyo Hondo valley, with stunning views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the east and south. On clear nights, the stargazing was fantastic. You have a lot of privacy there. While there are other houses close by on the road, but I don’t think we ever saw another person around during our five days there. The location was great for exploring the area. We enjoyed the hot spring resorts in Ojo Caliente and Jemez Springs (the latter is substantially farther though). There are a ton of hiking options nearby for almost any level of interest/ability. We had a great day hike along the Rio Grande Canyon. Restaurant choices were really good- especially for a relatively rural area. There were several great restaurants in Taos and the little towns on the way to Taos. Arroyo Seco- about 15 minutes away- has a couple of fancier, chef-driven type places. Overall, we were really pleased. The only drawback that comes to mind is that- like a lot of houses around there- it does not have AC. Of course, being in the high desert, nights were very cool and the days were relatively mild in late April.

Comfortable home with great views
This home is simple and comfortable. Its peaceful location and stellar views make it extra special. The host was extremely helpful, and his restaurant recommendations were spot-on. Note that during summer weather, the home can get stuffy and warm, especially towards late afternoon and evening (highs were in the 80s when I stayed there). Even with doors and windows open, there isn't much cross-ventilation, so plan to be out enjoying the mountains until the sun goes down, when the cool night breezes blow in.

Great Taos home, incredible views
I just spent a week at this home, and I would just echo what other reviewers said about this place: very comfortable home, well provisioned and great location close to all that Taos has to offer. The views are really just spectacular--the way the house is set up around the vistas is perfect, and it makes it a great place to spend time in, or to come home to after a day exploring the area. Communication with the host was excellent. Would highly recommend this spot.

Stunning Views!
Absolutely loved our stay here! The house was warm and welcoming, while also being minimalist and letting the natural landscape be the star. The views from the walls of windows are incredible -- we made sure to be back in time for sunset every afternoon, and to catch the sunrise in the mornings. Plus the balcony was great for stargazing! Plus Dan was a great host, and replied to any questions immediately. Can't wait to stay here again!

Close to both Taos and the Ski Valley, this home is as beautiful as the photos show. In the winter, be aware that it can be chilly, bit the wood burning stove does the trick if you purchase the extra wood. Dan was helpful for the few questions

Amazing views and beautiful home!
The communication upfront and check-in process was great. Views were unreal, sunset and sunrise were beautiful, and the sky at night was a sight to see. I loved the kitchen and living room, especially with those windows all around. Great location, close to great hiking trails, hot springs, secluded and yet Taos was only a 15min drive away.

Views to die for.
Really enjoyed our stay at this property. Some may say the lack of a TV is a negative but with the views from all he windows over the Arroyo and the mountains, who needs a TV. You take a picture and two seconds later the light changes and the view is even better. Clean, comfortable and with everything you need to enjoy your stay in the Taos area. Only problem I see is, it is so nice inside you may have trouble enjoying all the area has to offer because you have to leave. Gene and Heather.

Really enjoyed our experience here! The house was very comfortable, tidy and well equipped with everything we needed. Dan was so accommodating and communicative. You can tell he really takes pride in his place. It is located a short 10 -15 drive north of town, but that allows you to get up a bit higher to enjoy some openness and amazing views of the mesa. Highly recommend this special and unique spot.

Aurora Hondo views
Aurora Hondo views. Very good views of this mountains and countryside. House was clean and well-maintained. Kitchen was stocked sufficiently. Good host no problems there. Very good location for going around the enchanted Circle. Very enjoyable trip. I would have suggested just a few things. The steps down The hill to the door Are challenging for some. With good Wi-Fi could use a television. Should make mention that there is no air conditioner. And should make mention that it is on a gravel road for a little ways. I would also get a Keurig coffee maker. And get a very domesticated ladyTo rearrange your kitchen drawers. Please don’t think I’m trying to offend. Just a suggestion trying to help. Enjoyed our stay very much and would do it again. Thank you
