Dry-stone walls are an integral feature of the Yorkshire Dales. Whilst you will often see them being repaired it is more unusual to see a new one being built.
Here at Appletreewick I was fortunate to see a craftsman building this wall. I could only admire his skill. Whilst he finished the wall with a mortared coping, the wall itself is "dry".

Horsey paintings added to the ambience as racehorses trotted by the window! Soothing and relaxing! Breakfast was the best ever in a b n b. Hostess Sharon made us feel like friends. "Very well run and very good standard and worth the money. My only criticism is that the drive leading to the property from Otley Road needs a contractor brought in to resurface - potholes are not good for welcoming guests quite apart from the potential damage to cars. Did say to reception who noted. "
