"The staff at the hotel were great and the hotel was nice but it is located in a bad part of town. There is absolutely nothing close to see, no restaurants within walking distance except Tim Horton's in a gas station. The breakfast was terrible bagels and white bread, no sweet rolls or donuts for a continental breakfast. Dry cold cereal and an apple or banana. The coffee and tea were good and available all day. I would not recommend this hotel or book it again."

"Price can vary a lot. I hit Montreal on the last day of Formula 1 so it was very expensive. However with the price you pay for, the cleanliness could be improved. There was dust and bits along the edge of the mattress. Mattress was fairly thin. Staffs were helpful and you can tell the cleaning staffs were really trying to keep up the cleanliness of the sharing space. It was just too many people. Showers were too small. Some of things like bathroom door were broken over the time I stayed there (5 days) was never fixed. Lockers could be bigger. The key problem here is the capsule door. Although it looks like you need a key card to open it, actually all you need is a push, it would just open without the card. This leads to low security."

"The common areas - lobby and pool are beautiful. The room was average to be honest - given the price I expected a better room. It was basic and a little dated. The real issue is that the rooms are not - at all - sound proof. Doors slamming in the hallway through out the night - kids yelling and running through the halls at all hours. On the third night of this I had enough and called the front desk at 11am and 3am to get them to deal with the kids. The response was "oh yes I ca. hear them"...in which case I would expect a hotel of this calibre to handle it proactively. It's not a family style holiday inn, after all. While the pool is lovely, the lifeguards did not enforce any standards - small kids dropping F bombs and splashing people non stop and adults in the pool deck on Sat night in their cowboy boots and street shoes with backpacks full of their beer. The pool area is truly lovely, but would recommend a room on the pool side - the music and noise is non stop 9am - 11pm. I travel a lot, rarely complain, but for the $2000 I spent for 4 nights I have higher expectations. When our flight was delayed, to be fair they did honor my request to waive the late check out charge given the noisy kids I complained about. Of note...the young man I called at front desk May 31/ early hours June 1 did not send anyone to handle the kids, nor did he add a note to my file about the concerns. So - all in all- it was ok, I'd choose somewhere else next time. Too bad."

Elegant 2BR Retreat A Stylish Stay on MTL West

"To call this place an elegant retreat is ridiculous. The space itself is fine, but it is in an apartment complex that is rundown. The space is on the fourth floor without an elevator. There are many units in the complex and noise from 10pm on into the early morning was filled with yelling, screaming and various doors slamming shut. As the police informed me when they came up to see us in the space (our car was broken into and stolen) the area is very sketchy and we should not come back again. We asked for a full refund and got a partial refund. The amount of time needed to speak to VRBO and the hosts to secure some kind of payment was too much. The hosts are property managers keeping a two bedroom space on VRBO. I would suggest VRBO delist the space and the property managers be required to keep the space available for regular leases at prices commensurate with the neighborhood."
