"The adjoining room door was next to the bed. Very poor sound proofing. The next room’s conversations at normal tones sounded like they were in our room. They talked until 2:45AM. The hotel clerk did make note of it the next morning when I reported it. Hopefully they will fix the problem."

"Our view from our room was wonderful. Bay view with views of otters and sea lions. The room was comfortable. The bed and linens were of high quality and the decor was upscale. The breakfast was simple but got us up with coffee and small bites. It hit the spot. We loved the cookies at 3pm. The staff were all pleasant and welcoming. "

"I stayed in one of the historic rooms, which is historically small and unappointed. There wasn't even a chair, just a bed and a bathroom. If you wanted to sit, you could sit on the toilet or the bed. The staff were fine, the hotel at least in that area, is pretty shabby. I was unimpressed and I will not return."

"Extremely underrated. Very good hotel. Clean rooms, renovated bathrooms, very clean and new tiles and clean showers. Gas fireplace was awesome. HBO channel was also a nice touch. Best breakfast ever!!"

"For the location and price , its a bargain. I usually stay here every time I visit Monterey. Its right across the street from Lover's Point Park and a really nice restaurant. "
