"Amalfi town is beautiful, historic but a bit chaotic and crowded. The Grand Excelsior is a peaceful respite well above the town built into the cliffs. The hotel has the best views in all of the Amalfi Coast. The architecture and decor are very charming and almost a time capsule for 1950's Mediterranean elegance. We loved the friendly staff and the restaurant and bar were very good and all we needed. The highlight for us was the private elevator built into the cliffs taking you down to the private beach. Amazing."

"Here's a polished and thoughtful version of your hotel review: --- A Wonderful Stay with Just One Small Drawback I had a lovely experience staying at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. The receptionists were friendly and professional, and the valet team went above and beyond—especially when they helped us refuel our electric car. There were no EV charging stations nearby, so they made a special effort to ensure our car was fully charged and ready for us. That level of service truly stood out. The food at the hotel was another highlight. Every meal we had was delicious, with amazing flavors and top-notch service throughout our stay. The only drawback, and the reason I’m giving four point five stars instead of five, was the size of the room. It was quite small, and while I understand this is due to the building’s age and historic charm, it did feel a bit cramped. That said, everything else was excellent, and I would definitely return. Next time, I’ll make sure to request a larger room to make the experience even better! "
