The good: Friendly accommodating staff. Good food in the house restaurant, on the lower end of the fine dining price scale. Good bar with friendly barkeeps. Locally popular. Interesting historical hotel. Beautiful grounds.
The bad: This hotel needs maintenance and cleaning. Cobwebs throughout. Disrepair everywhere. Our room, #6, was falling apart. Moreover, the room was dark, dirty- brick dust (see picture) was on the ledge and floor for our 3-night stay, never cleaned. Lots of cobwebs and a couple of spiders. Worn out (not antique) broken furniture. Mold in the shower stall. Loose tile in the shower pan. There is little to do in Amador City, but lots close by.
