"Rooftop bar/pool area used for breakfast is a real delight with views of the sea and mountains. The food was exceptional and the dinner buffet very good value head and shoulders above most we have experienced in terms of quality and choice. Very unusual for holiday hotels is the quality of the bedrooms and especially the bed. Excellent in all respects apart from the MUZAK which is played morning noon and night and spoils the wonderful rooftop breakfast experience totally. "

"Really lovely villas and large pools. Could do with slightly more foliage in between villa terraces for added privacy and the cleaner should sweep when changing towels etc..other than that the owners were extremely friendly and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend staying here. Definitely need to rent a car. "

"Fabulous little property, just off the main road, 10 steps onto beach, very short walk to other bars and tavernas, happy to recommend and will stay again when visiting the area.😎😊"

"This was an amazing trip, the location is really nice and quiet, close to national road to take you to Chania, lovely town close by called Armenoi with butcher, cheese monger and nice restaurants, close to Kalives with beach bars restaurants etc. The host Stefanos is a lovely friendly man who will assist with any needs. He allowed us to check in nice and early and greeted us with a smile. He would come chat with us daily if he saw us sat outside. No noise at night which is amazing"

Beautiful villa stunning views

"The villa’s setting is breathtaking with views over the bay and mountains. It has large en-suite rooms upstairs with adjoining balcony. The kitchen equipment is a little sparse but we ate out every evening so not a problem for us. The pool is not heated so takes some getting used to but great for swimming lengths. Almyrida is a great resort not too busy but with lots of shops and restaurants our favourite was Anita’s. The beaches are sandy and the sea is so clear and shallow so safe for children.We walked to town in 15 minutes but the hill is quite steep returning so we drove most of the time "

"Brilliant location. Lovely views, great apartment. One small thing, the light bulbs are a very white stark bright light,it would be nicer with a warmer bulb as it felt too bright and corporate. But the whole apartment is great x lots of room. The hotel room service was excellent. Really helpful and friendly "

"This was our first week of 4 in Crete and what a start! All our places we stay have a lot to live up to! George and Nana were the perfect hosts and the accommodation was just as we hoped for and wanted. We we out and about everyday enjoying the surrounding area, travelling as far as the south coast and enjoying many walks and beaches. Lots of places to eat out but the apartment kitchen was so well equipped that it was a pleasure to eat in too! Thanks for the homemade raki, the gift and a bottle of bubbly for my 60th birthday next week! A wonderful stay "

STAY AT VILLA VARVARA

"Our 2nd stop on this trip to Greece, was Almyrida at Villa Varvara. Outstanding clean private local and accessible. We found it to be a great base for exploring the west side of Crete. the local shops and eateries near the property were just what we wanted small local excellent fare. Walking distance down to beach chairs and the ocean.The views from ALL the balconies of the property are breathtaking. We tried to spend a night on each one and found the back balcony looking at the mountains to be our favorite. Excellent bedding and water pressure for baths and shower. PRIVATE!! we loved the kitties that came to visit. GREAT communication and direction from the Hosts. FULL KITCHEN made some dinners at home was great. The pool had ample chairs and outside amenities. We recommend that you choose a car that is small to mid compact in order to park on the private driveway. We rec host describe this in listing if you came in a jeep it would not work.Easy access with getting into the property. We would rebook here. We were only two in the house so one full bath worked out. The 2nd 1/2 bath is not he first floor and makes for good access. Come to Alymrida and stay at Villa Varvara. "

Almyrida Apartments, Large pool, 5 minutes walk from beach

First visit to Greece

"We celebrated my husband’s 80th birthday during our stay. We loved the apartment it worked well for 2 couples. The climb up the hill was challenging but we managed, the view from the deck was worth the climb. If you want a cab you need to phone them, you cannot stop at their street side office and ask for a ride. The supermarkets in town are great but if you are looking for fresh meat you need to go to the next town, south west of Almyrida. We took the taxi and our driver was great, he waited while we shopped and even helped us return an article we had purchased to exchange for what we really needed. We loved the pool that was just below our deck, we never had to share it with other guests, it was like having our own private pool. It was quiet, and very comfortable. It was very warm while we were there and the air conditioner worked great. We had an issue with the wifi but Wendy rectified very quickly once she was notified. It’s a great apartment! "
