We stop over at Duvauchelle, a small town on our way to Akaroa. It's on the Christchurch Akaroa Road at the tip of the Head Bay that is part of a much larger Duvauchelle Bay. The bay was so serene and peaceful, almost like a lake. You cannot see the horizon from here because the bay is almost surrounded by land...that's how unique the geography of this place is....the sea or the bay rather, has gone deep inwards into the land. Notice the names around here sounds very French. Not surprising because the areas around these parts of Akaroa were first settled by the French in the olden days.
