"Good place to stay for a one night stay. Very close to the city centre, less than a ten minute walk to York Minster and so a good base for our trip. Nice clean rooms, good size. Bathroom was also clean and bright. The kettle was very mouldy though which was a shame so couldn't use this. The car park is also very very small and compact and didn't seem as secure as expected as the barriers are left often."

The ambience is outstanding and gives great attention to maintaining the history associated with York and offering an excellent range of guest f,acilities. The staff are exceptionally pleasant and helpful; they work hard to make your stay very enjoyable."

"Hotel was very basic for a Holiday Inn. Restaurant seemed to be breakfast only and bar didn't ever look open. (Maybe the receptionist doubles as bar staff, I don't know.) There is only one lift so queues form. There was a mountain of pigeon poop on the outside window sill of my room, which was a bit gross. Inside was clean and location was fine, but I'm sure there are much better places in York at a similar price and location."
