"Positives - Good location for York; great showers and comfortable bed. Negatives - only breakfast option is continental breakfast served in room, though room facilities to do this minimal. No communal space for a drink etc other than a small unwelcoming area between the front door and the reception hatch, which offered a very small range of self serve drinks. More a place to sleep than a place to stay."

"Nothing at all wrong with the hotel. Clean, nice views of garden, huge bed. It was the noise of the other guests that kept me awake after deciding that 11:30 at night was the best time to have a loud pointless conversation on the landing. Hotel was fine and i had no issues with it. Staff are very helpful and polite. Would stay with them again if i have to."

"Plenty of parking. All facilities were available (pool, spa golf etc) at an extra cost but I didn't use. Room looked out on to a brick wall and outdoor plumbing, but I assume this is because I didn't book directly with the hotel. Grounds were immaculate but not visible from our room. Didn't have breakfast so cannot comment but it smelled good!"

"Lovely accommodation in a great village. Good good but a little expensive. Hotel room was comfortable and modernised but bathroom was a little tired although it had a great shower with plenty of power and hot water. Drinks provided in room. Great price for good rooms."

"We stayed in the Bootham suite, the room was light and airy and had a lovely small balcony to enjoy the sunshine. The four poster bed was very comfy and there was a small seating area to relax in. Breakfast was very good, everything is a la carte and the staff were very attentive. The hotel is in a great location, very easy walking distance into York but also very quiet and peaceful. The Pantry is a really nice touch but it was a shame that there wasn't a fridge in the room to keep drinks cool....

"The staff were wonderful, after a dreadul experience with expedia for another booking that this getaway replaced, we talked of our experience and Phillipa kindly gave us a round of drinks on the house! The property is beautiful and in a prime location, but still serene enough to feel off the beaten track (but rodiculously close to a city wall). "Some refurbishment going on but this did not interfere with our stay. The breakfast was excellent as was the evening meal. The bar was well stocked and a marvelous selection of spirits. The room was very well maintained and comfortable. "
