"The room was basic and dated. Bathroom was very dated and grubby. Sheets were clean but things like the kettle were poorly situated in front of the tv on a narrow table too far from the plug. Lamps and curtains and such were very dated. Place was like a rabbit warren and very difficult to navigate. Hardly any parking spaces given the number of rooms and long walk back to car. "I was offered an upgrade from a classic double to a feature double (for an extra £30pn) which I took. It was in the old part of the hotel. The room was very cold as the radiators were not working. I enquired at reception and was told that they would speak to someone to see if it could be sorted. A little while later an electric heater was delivered to the room which did not work and another was requested. This only managed to heat the bedroom while the bathroom remained cold. "Rookery Hall is nothing short of stunning!. What a place. Beautiful grounds, the building is amazing to look at inside and out, the staff can't do enough for you and the Spa to relax. Me and the Mrs were very sad when our stay came to an end. It's a no brainer if you want a peaceful, romantic stay with your loved one. Absolutely brilliant *****"
"Really nice hotel in a great location. The review would have been a 5 but for the fact of the most ridiculous system is in place on the bar for food. I ordered an appetiser and a main course stating it was a starter followed by ,,,,,,, To my surprise they came out together. I asked the waitress who grunted that’s the way the kitchen do it and making me feel I was a tad unreasonable. I suppose the saving grace I did not order an ice cream for dessert."
"The Lion Inn was one of the most charming Inn's I have stayed in. The rooms are charming- you approach yours as if it is your own little cottage. Inside, they are cheerful and bright and have the latest in sleeping accommodations and amenities.
The staff is so friendly and helpful.
The pub is wonderful, The cuisine is delicious and contemporary, and the servers are lovely and efficient.
The Inn is located near the Grade I church of St. Oswalds, -a two-minute walk away.
