"Booked a deluxe room for 2 nights. Allocated a substandard room, needing refurbishment, tired with curtains hanging off poles, dark and dingy with broken tiles in the bathroom. Staff in denial initially, eventually moved into another much better standard of room. On our departure we had no hot water. Breakfast was a poor experience too with staff in addition not informing us that Breakfast started later on a Saturday. So no breakfast that day due to our departure time.

"Lovely pub/restaurant with rooms in a picturesque small village. We had a great dinner and the service throughout our stay was fantastic (thank you Matthew). I wasn’t aware this was part of a chain at the time of booking but I shall be looking out for Butcombe Pubs in future."

"It's such a nice place in such a charming area. Their thatched roof looks so very cool. Their staff is just excellent, they all take pride in doing an excellent job. I met the sous chef twice, she and her husband (the chef) make a great team. They have a lovely old bar and I took two friends there for the Sunday roast dinner. They have a good sized parking lot. You won't be at all disappointed."
"Everything about the Hotel was excellent. Lovely, friendly, very helpful staff, compty bed and room, clean and with coffee/tea/biscuits provided. Breakfast was first class, trout with poached eggs were perfect, Trish went above and beyond to help us with my disabled husband, she even collected our cases from our room and a staff member took and loaded them into our car. Would certainly stay here again."

"The place is just a nicley kept pub, with a very good food and drinks menu + some kraft beers, our room was a little small but was clean with tea and coffee making facilities, breakfast was very good and the staff very helpful, yep we would stay there again, but in a larger room."
"David is a saint! It was like staying with family if family isn't overbearing or meddlesome. And it's a super comfy bed.
The location is about 10-15 minute walk into town center or the entrance to the Chalice Well or footpath up the Tor.

"Beautiful grounds, excellent staff but room fell short of expectations - no air conditioning, bath/shower difficult to get into, no shower caps, no toilet brush, flush difficult to use, waste bin not emptied - maybe all OK when built (2005?) but at the price charged we hoped for better. Cooked breakfast was good - they know how to poach an egg - but fruit juices at best were supermarket quality, limited fruit on offer (melon, pineapple and maybe blackcurrant) and same both days were there."
