We went to the beach in the morning for a run along the promenade - only challenge was getting there as the Pearls didn't seem to have direct beach front access but we navigated the mall and made our way down. "This hotel is a bit tired and in need of an upgrade. The carpet in the bedroom was dusty, the bed was a bit hard and the service was terrible. While the parking is free, you have to get your parking ticket validated at Reception - I had to go back a few times as this was not done correctly. The hotel does not justify it's 4 star rating"

"The hotel was really nice. The staff did help us in many areas but even though they lived in Durban their knowledge was fairly limited about the area. All we were told was not to go out at night as it was not safe for white people. Even during the day do not wear a watch or show your phone. When I asked about groceries or getting a sim card they didn'r really know where I should go. Eventually a porter told me the best place to go which was only a 5 minute walk. "Our kids loved the different pool options, slides, playground, trampoline, and mini golf. The nature reserve walk right next door offered a great opportunity for a scenic break. The two bedroom and living room was a comfortable option for 5 travelers with great ocean views. The restaurant specials and accommodations to kids particular requests were some of the best meals we had all trip. Great option to stay when traveling through Durban King Shaka International Airport."
