"Beautiful and immaculate well appointed rooms. Modern and new, fresh rooms. Rooms have kitchenette though we did not use. Excellent location for touring Cambridge & punting boat tours. Very walkable with lots of restaurants & shopping nearby. Would definitely stay again!!"
"The room was great with a good view of the river and lawn area. Plenty of space in the room. The leisure facilities are very good and the staff there were super-helpful.
The bar was so-so, waited a while to get served and then the wine I wanted was only available by the bottle and not the glass.
30GBP a day for parking felt a bit steep!"
"Wifi did not work in rooms and while one staff member did try to help by accessing other networks these were intermittent. This issue was not fixed the whole weekend.
Other issues included:
- stains on carpet in room
- Room service trays with food remains dumped by lift and staff walking past and doing nothing about it
- Extremely unfriendly bar staff
A pity as location is good and it used to be a pleasant place to stay - but the issues and general offering mean the price is not worth paying....
"It was a mixed bag - mostly positives, but with a couple of inexcusable negatives.
Pros:
The hotel is new, nice interior decor and amenities (small but well equipped gym, narrow swimming pool but with sauna/hot tub, nicely done, laundry room in basement with free use of washer/dryer, underground carpark - a rarity in Cambridge (though at a fee), apartment style rooms with kitchen including pots/pans/plates/cutlery/microwave etc etc, decent bed and bathroom). Staff at front desk were great....
"The Hotel overall is nice. It's 10-12 minutes from thr city centre and King's College.
Unfortunately, the Hotel is under construction and the dining area was closed off. Breakfast is decent, but limited compared to something like the St. Ermins in Westchester District, London."
"For someone who doesn't cope well with noise from others, this isn't a place for you. Some male voices talking in communal area were heard multiple times throughout the night.
I won't risk staying at another hostel unless there's absolutely no other choice. The shower room could use more than one hook for people to hang clothes and a towel. It's not possible to hang all items on one single hook."
"Immaculate room and very spacious with comfy big arm chairs.
Bathroom was spotless too and shower lovely and roomy.
Breakfast and dinners were delicious!! The pancakes came with loads of yummy bacon and plenty maple syrup!
The fish and chips were plentiful, steak pie was hearty and filling! Will be back!"
