"We were there for just one night, prior to a cruise. Getting a taxi the next morning was an issue, as there were 4 cruise ships in port. We were travelling with 4 others, so got 1 taxi for 2 and big luggage, and the rest of us walked to the terminal, a 45 minute walk. Weirdly, the hotel is in the middle of a traffic circle, easily crossed to a beautiful park, close to high street"

The room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast options were very varied and well prepared. Also, we unfortunately discovered that we had left some items at the hotel when we got home. "Stay OK, I usually stay here, more out of habit now (better the devil you know)... but a few tips. 1. room position is important. No aircond, so May to Septmeber can be hot. Make sure you're on the East carpark side, other side is much hotter. Also, make sure you're away from the lifts (noisy talking lifts, noisy people... the further you are south the less people walk by shouting, and bratty children). 2. Carpark now running at 90% capacity minimum... Often no parking after you have paid...

"I really loved the Red Lion, the whole place is truly well kept, the furniture and the decorations including the lovely framed prints are all amazing and the whole atmosphere is very welcoming and cosy. "Hotel was clean, comfortable and staff were at tentative and welcoming, knew local knowledge when asked directions, would stay again. Down side car park attached to hotel is down a steep slope so not good if you can’t walk far, no direct access from car park into hotel. I had a room with a balcony, two chairs it could do with a small table to put your drink on. "

I would like to mention, a waitress with a pony tail, she was very efficient, seemed to know her job very well, and was a people person. Thank you to all the amazing staff, who, did not know this but made our Ruby wedding anniversary, and wonderful experience, and nice memories. "
