"What an absolute find, a true revelation. Okay, Newport itself may not be the most salubrious of towns, but the Mercure Hotel is in a league of its own. The hotel is situated right in the town centre, very close to the Friars Walk Shopping Centre and it’s undercover 24 hour car park. We parked there for 2 nights, a 5 minute walk to the hotel, and only cost just over £15. The hotel itself, looks a relatively new building from the exterior, it was in fact built in 1966. "A beautiful place to stay, I was in the deluxe cottage with my dog. The room was beautiful and clean, spacious bathroom and an enclosed garden with a decking area and chairs. The air conditioning was wonderful! Staff very friendly and helpful, would definitely stay here again."

"The room, premises, staff, and facilities were amazing. Absolutely top notch! The restaurant food was really nice. The only slight negative was that the room was a little too warm with the temperature sensor set to the lowest setting. The spa was brilliant, we used the gym, sauna steamer and pool and all were clean and well looked after. It’s a hell yeah from us!!"
