"The most uncomfortable night’s sleep
The room was dusty and had an awful damp(?) smell.
The sheets had quite a few stray hairs in them- I am inclined to think they either were not fresh or that housekeeping was just sloppy with the changing of them.
The carpet is filthy and dusty and just needs to be changed over- this is the same for the corridors, too. A pity to say this hotel has seen better days.

"This is an olde worlds building lots of little rooms also larger function suite all connected with old fashioned corridors connecting them. But there bedrooms are not small and hey are very spacious en-suite rooms. Beautifully decorated with the period they represent.
The staff are very peasant, helpful and friendly. Good food.
Excellent venue for a wedding as beautiful setting inside and outside extensive countryside woodland walk to the river."
"I stayed in a room rather than one of the lodges, and the room was lovely, very comfortable, and spotlessly clean. It's worth noting its on the very edge of the town, around a 15-minute walk from the centre of Ballater.
My only disappointment was that the rooms are not serviced daily unless you are staying for a longer period, which wasn't explained at check-in. It was a little frustrating to return after a long day out to find the room hadn't been serviced, as that's one of the things I most...
"Easy parking to rear of hotel. Friendly, efficient welcome & check-in. Clean, spacious warm room (room 5). Good choice of tea/coffee. Large fluffy bath towels.
Excellent freshly cooked breakfast again with excellent service."
