"The hotel is very well situated from the station and town centre. Breakfast was very good. Standard room was ok quite small although king bed. Our only complaint was it was so noisy from the street, shouting in the night and the refuse lorry came every morning at 5am so if we stayed again we would ask for a room overlooking the river side not the street. "Booked it through Expedia that said parking available. When arrived they said they had limited spaces and should have pre-booked a space. That option wasn't available. I ended up parking half a mile away and paying a total.of £75 for it! I could have used that for a better hotel width parking spaces."

Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was clean.
The lift was very small and made strange noises so not for those who don’t like them!

"Hotel was very basic for a Holiday Inn. Restaurant seemed to be breakfast only and bar didn't ever look open. (Maybe the receptionist doubles as bar staff, I don't know.) There is only one lift so queues form. There was a mountain of pigeon poop on the outside window sill of my room, which was a bit gross. Inside was clean and location was fine, but I'm sure there are much better places in York at a similar price and location."

We enjoyed a drink outside looking over the Market place.
In the evening we ate in the restaurant - booking definitely advisable. My husband had the steak pie and chips which he said was the most delicious pie he had eaten in years ....high praise indeed from a pie lover !
