"Lovely staff, decent hotel and in a great spot, but something between Expedia and the hotel went wrong and we had to check out of our room at 11 and into another at 3, even though we were only there for 2 nights. I agreed to this as it was too late to hunt down another hotel. Upon arrival, the staff were really lovely, but our room was made up as a double, when it should’ve been a twin. I was desperately tired after a seven hour drive and wanted to lay down, but couldn’t as they said the staff...
"The beach view was amazing to wake up to. Wish the beds were bigger. For the size of the room I could understand why a full was used. Bathroom was really nice and was just remodeled."
"Breakfast was very good. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Property is in need of some TLC, and could be an excellent venue. Gardens in need of de-weeding and some cutting back on trees, brambles etc."
"Comfortable beds, great shower very clean accommodation throughout, very friendly staff and great choice at breakfast, which is served from 8am perfect if you want an early start. 2 mins away from Keswick square and on the Cumbria way route highly recommended"
"The only positive from our stay, if it didn’t
Happen, would have actually been a blessing . The front desk agreed to help us check in later than possible by leaving key in lockbox. Once we discovered the error we have another 1 hour 15 minute ride to “hotel”. Upon arriving, key was in lockbox, room was large but beds were from the 19th century, incredibly...
"Well positioned in Cockermouth. Stairs upto bed rooms may be challenging for some guests.
Easy parking, well stocked bar, pleasant communal rooms and garden.
Best part of this hotel by far is the very welcoming friendly staff and superb breakfast."
"I enjoy my stay at the Golden Lion. The food is good and the staff are helpful. The room was clean but found the ensuite rather tight for space especially with the step to the shower."
