"Would have rated it 5 stars overall, but one or two things were allowed to run out. For example, the Aspels cider, the decaf tea sachets, and the decaf coffee sachets. Better checking on such things on a regular basis would prevent these from running out, because they could be topped up before they run out.
Apart from the above shortcomings, good breakfast, good dinner, friendly and helpful staff."
"Lovely 3 night stay. Rooms were comfortable and nicely decorated. We booked two rooms and were assigned one in the courtyard and one in the main building. Bathroom in the courtyard room was significant bigger but otherwise rooms were comparable. Great location. Definitely recommend booking with breakfast included. The breakfast was delicious and included a cooked breakfast item from the menu as well as the buffet style yogurt, pastries, toast, fruit etc. The homemade compote was absolutely...
"A country pub, with a large room and a very comfortable bed. Lovely crisp white sheets.
We enjoyed our evening meal - freshly cooked, good value. Breakfast was excellent, with good coffee."
"Room nice and spacious. Breakfast great. Restaurant lovely
Carpets need a good clean in accommodation.
Noisy deliveries from 7am.
We put drinks on room during day time; then were charged for all of them on dinner receipt (therefore we were charged service charge on daytime bar drinks). Bizarre given we had added card to room for that exact purpose (I didn’t want to have a card allocated to room, but was told it wasn’t optional, then had bill presented at dinner anyway). Was almost like they...
"Room is clean and quiet. Air-conditioner is definitely a plus during heatwave. We were able to have a nice sleep after a day long activity. Staff are very helpful to accommodate our request. On Sunday, the bar closes a bit earlier, so we missed the last order time. But we were able to have a dinner at the bar on a weekday. The food quality is superb in the area. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will stay again next year."
"We have stayed pre ion s couple of occasions and the room , cleanliness and overall experience has been far better , on this occasion we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the room , the obvious first thing we noticed was a lingering dog smell , as I know the rooms are dog friendly , this could be easily rectified by pet friendly plug in air fresheners ? And a feeler clean in between guests … the room just felt not clean , not aired , no windows open and we stayed in August when the...
"Room and bathroom clean and spacious. Bar and food good. Staff friendly. Buses outside to nearby villages. Train station 5 mins which was really useful for getting around and local shop, pub and cafe 5 mins. Social club 5 mins. Great band and friendly people. Car parking at rear. Beach 10 mins."
"A Proper Little Gem(We Almost Kept It Secret)
Our stay felt wonderfully homely, with every comfort we could ask for, including a few we never knew we needed!
Barry was an excellent host whose entertaining stories and warm welcome made us feel at home from the moment we arrived.
The place was clean, bright and perfectly situated for us, and the cooked breakfast was fabulous, all freshly cooked to order and very generous.
We'd highly recommend a stay here and will definitely be back."
"Sue and Clive have a well deserved good reputation. We wanted an immersive English countryside experience in a 400 year old Inn, and that is what we got. A delicious full English breakfast is included in the room price."
"The whole place was a bit dingy with tired decor and furnishings. Lack of decent reliable WiFi in the rooms was a big drawback. Room resembled a prison cell. Clean and good quality bedding was one of the few plus points. I expected something like a Travelodge for the price paid and was very disappointed."
"Great location, but room was in poor condition (mouldy tiles, discoloured toilet seat, cracks & holes in the walls) & not clean. If you have mobility issues, there are lots of steps.Breakfast available if arranged the previous day. Free parking on the road, but spaces are taken quickly"
