"Since we last went to the Royal and Fortescue which was over 30 years ago it has had a major refurbishment. Our room was lovely, clean and well furnished. The bars were very smart and we had an excellent breakfast before departure. The staff were very polite and helpful. Our only minor complaint was the lift was out of action and we were on the third floor."
"Check in was easy, friendly staff, room decor was lovely, clean bedding. Parking was perfect and surroundings are beautiful. Had a beautiful breakfast too. Only negative was quite a few wood louse running round the bathroom, kept slippers on but may put you off if squeamish."
"Room of reasonable size, quiet and pleasant view. Pub light meal good and Sea Shanty singers a bonus.Good position to enjoy Lynmouth and convenient for the excellent Cliff Railway to see Lynton. enjoyed the Norther Walk and the Valley of Rocks.

"You have to remember it’s a 14th century Inn and comfort is going to be a little tricky. If your 5 foot tall it would help but being over 6 feet was a mission to get to the bedroom.
Staffings is a little laid back but the location is excellent by the quayside . Unfortunately, didn’t have a view at all so would recommend you book one. Breakfast is to order and very good"
"The room, was filthy dirty, bed sheets smelt of mould wet dog. Cups dirty with coffee stains. Toilet filthy. Shower filthy, floor so dirty made your feet black. Walls all damaged. Smelt really bad in the room. Balcony outside extremely dangerous and broken.
Floor uneven. No lights in the dark. Extremely noisy. Beds uncomfortable. Stains on sheets.
Dust and dirt every where. The towels didn’t smell clean. Extremely unhappy. I didn’t take hardly any photos to proved as I’m sure the staff know."
"Pleasantly surprised staff were friendly and helpful the restaurant was good with bar games to entertain the kids we stayed for one night whilst visiting family the rooms were clean and comfortable and we all had a great nights sleep thank you"
"Overall nit too bad. Car parking was an issue and we had booked a table for two for my husband's birthday dinner and they committed to tell us they had a full house with a quiz on that evening. We had to get elsewhere. The owner was not very accommodating at all."
"Shower was great (if small) and the homemade shortbread was a nice little touch my son enjoyed as part of his breakfast.
The breakfasts were also really good. They were very flexible on items on the full English and the ingredients were good quality with proper sausages, thick bacon and thick slices of good bread.
The two women working there were great and the service was excellent though. They told another guest they only took it on last year and are doing it up but they need to either do it...
"A wonderful place to stay in Ilfracombe. Lorraine and Adrian were excellent hosts and very welcoming. My room and ensuite were great, with a view down over the town and towards the sea. Spotlessly clean.
There is a new terrace area for seating outside and they have retained the Honesty Bar downstairs with a range of beers, ciders, wine and soft drinks.
The breakfast area opens out on to the terrace and the Breakfast menu is truly amazing with a massive choice and ALL dietary needs catered for....
"Fijne herberg met gastvrij en vriendelijk personeel. Wij logeerden in de familie kamer, een gezellige ruimte op de tweede verdieping. Er staat ook een bedbank voor een derde persoon, maar die is aan vervanging toe. Ze serveren ook een diner met redelijke keus, en voor het ontbijt heb je ook prima keus."
"Tolle Unterkunft in super Lage - wir hatten die Familiensuite und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt, das Zimmer war sehr groß , liebevoll eingerichtet und hatte sogar Blink aufs Meer - der Check-In war super einfach und das Personal nett und hilfsbereit - wir haben nichts zu beanstanden und kommen gern wieder"
