"The location is great. The JR train station is just across the street, and lots of shops are in the station. The hotel's free, hot breakfast is wonderful and nutritious. My minor complaints are: The room decor is outdated and the bathroom sink drains a bit slow. But everything is well kept and clean. I love this hotel and keep coming back when I need to stay in Okayama."

This was my favorite art installation on Ogijima, an island in the Seto Inland Sea. It was part of the art festival held every three years, Setouchi Triennale in 2013. The gallery Memory Bottle was installed by Mayumi Kuri. Almost 1,000 bottles are on display, all with pictures or small trinkets inside. In her interview she says that she wanted to gather memories of the local people in Ogijima so she set up a collection box, asking people to put their memories in it. The bottles were lit up with lights and had everything from pictures to train tickets. The gallery is still open even though the next Setouchi Triennale is not until 2016. If you want to see the art during the islands off season, now is the time to go :) * 40min ferry ride from Takamatsu Port. It is about a 1.5hr flight from Tokyo to Takamatsu. "Small cigarette at lobby And The rooms are old, but meals are included, so it's probably a good value for money considering the convenience. However, the smell of cigarettes seems to have permeated the building, so I don't think I'd want to stay there again."
