"Just returned from a two night stay at The North West Castle Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were a family group of 2 sisters and 2 brothers and all of us found the hotel great. Every member of staff were so helpful and friendly from the reception, the waiting staff at breakfast, the bar staff and the domestic staff they couldn't have treated us any better. A special shout out to Alan in the bar you are a star !! Breakfast was great.

"The Portpatrick Hotel never fails to disappoint.
The location is wonderful but the hotel itself is poor, poorly maintained and no attention to detail by housekeeping when preparing rooms, with empty soap dispensers in the bathroom.
The hotel just seems neglected, badly managed and understaffed by people who have little or no training in hospitality.
At best the breakfast was disappointing, the hot food in the buffet was edible, but the presentation and other items sadly lacking."
"Not a very friendly welcome and no help with luggage ( no elevator). Friendly breakfast gal and a pub and eatery downstairs and right next door. Waterfront walk if weather is nice"
"Nice location set on a rugged isolated spot of the Scottish coastline. Nice views, friendly & helpful staff with an exceptionally fine dining experience in the evening. Breakfast was good value too."
"Inn was closed so no food or drink. No notification prior. Looked like I’d be only person the premises. Expedia took payment prior despite instructions saying property would take payment. The inn still expected payment.Ended up being sent to another hotel which was much nicer."
"Staff were super friendly and helpful. Hotel seemed newly renovated and was clean and comfy. Room had some extra amenities than most hotels, which we loved. Friendly locals and good food!"
"This is a room above a pub. It is the cleanest room I have ever stayed in. It is small but functional with a comfortable bed. The staff are excellent and extremely accommodating. Breakfast is free and so is the clean fresh air. Food is excellent and the place is pet friendly. Its about 35 mins to the ferry but worth the journey."
"We couldn’t get into the property because it has been closed to the public for some time, Expedia obviously didn’t know about that because they kept sending us emails regarding our stay and when we turned up There after a late night ferry crossing we were stuck in the back of beyond and having tried to book other hotels in Dumfries with no joy we won’t be using Expedia again ever!! "
