"Stayed in the the Junior suit with a balcony and beautiful view. The staff is so friendly and helpful like a big family! Typical Italian rustic style but very charming hotel. Lucca only about 8 minutes away by car. Will come back again! Breakfasts are the same every day which is a bit boring . We would like to have more options like a fruit salad / soft fruit and tomatoes and eggs to choose from. Other than that - lovely place to stay. Thank you all for looking after us . "5 minutes walk from the railway station in Lucca and only 5 minutes walk to the walled city. The Rex hotel was very clean and comfortable throughout, the staff were friendly and attentive to our needs, as my wife is disabled. The continental breakfast was adequate with no limit on eating."

Even though only 2 out of 3 nights were booked in a Classic room, they upgraded us to a Superior room - which unfortunately is still a bit small. However, the view of the mountains, and fantastic breakfast (beautiful restaurant in separate building up the hill) makes up for it! We wanted to have dinner there, but restaurant was unfortunately closed for dinner over the weekend. On last night, a big bus load of teenage students...

It is excellent that the owners help to serve breakfast and welcome guests personally - the father cooks excellent omelettes and his wife is very cheerful. The hotel is within easy reach to the old town which is a calm, artistic gem, and has good trains...
