"We only stayed one night, the outside and the lobby and reception area were nice, the bar was nice. We waited about 10 minutes before any staff came to check us in, plenty of staff walked past until the queue got bigger! Then we got to the room!! It smelt of damp, the carpet was stained, there's was a damp patch above the broken wardrobe that had been painted over? The wardrobe door was hanging on broken hinges, the old sash window had no lock on, the door lock was a flimsy chain. The bathroom...
"Stayed in room 416.
Our main problem was the heat. I asked for the heating to be turned off so we could sleep and she said it was on auto and would go off soon. (We found it difficult to sleep due to the temp of the room) it came on again early in the morning. We used 2 fans but could not stand the heat in the room. It was a relief to go down to breakfast and escape it"
"Room was clean and tidy, good amenities especially with the small fridge in the room. Staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast had a good choice and served very quickly. Ample parking at the rear of the building. Good choice of evening meal, only sorry we weren't there on Sunday for the carvery. Great location in a beautiful small village. Would recommend and stay again."
"The room was ok but was not serviced daily.
The heating only came on for around an hour in the morning and as it is October perhaps should have been a couple of hours at night.
The staff were polite and friendly."
"We had a one night stop here in October. The room had been redecorated reasonably recently, the bathroom also looked very modern, all very clean. A new mattress wouldn't go amiss though.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, for our evening meal we had a pizza, which was ok, it was tasty and very filling. We didn't have breakfast so cant comment.
The absolute best thing about this hotel is sitting outside the front having a drink and admiring a stunning view! That alone would bring us...
"Such a lovely hotel , staff are great especially serving, I did like this that special touch , great that you can park just across from the hotel , not much of a walk into Whitby , rooms are spotless, maybe could do with a update but very comfortable thanks for welcoming us"
"The room was described as a “comfort room “ we loved it! It was surprisingly spacious enough, beautiful decor and soft furnishings. The bedding and towels quality were exceptional. Hospitality tray and outlook were lovely.
If I had to give a small negative, there was a slight odour in the bathroom, from probably the cloths/ mops used to clean, a bit “ sweaty socks” type of odour which lingered.
On another practical preference negative, the restaurant is beautiful, ambient and amazing service...
"the views in the wedding venues are stunning and really make the venue. All the staff were friendly and everything ran smoothly. Some parts of the hotel are tired and need updating. The bathroom was on the small side."
"This is the second time staying at lea’s cottage , & on both times I’ve never been disappointed. rms are spotlessly clean, good choice of breakfast options,& evening meals where exceptional, & all staff are really nice ,would definitely recommend staying at Lea’s cottage & l will definitely return next year"
"Great place to stay, super convenient location for exploring Whitby and a public car park only 3 minutes walk away. Great selection of tea & biscuits in the room on arrival and a fridge with bottled water & milk in the hallway for all rooms to access. Breakfast was made fresh upon request. Great price for everything that was included."
"Charming Inn with all modern amenities and a good selection of breakfast, lunch and evening meals served in the restaurant, conservatory or chill nook. Comfy sofas and views across the beautifully maintained gardens. I had a very good sleep in the comfortable bed. Rooms are spacious (23). I requested a ground floor, walk in shower room and was allocated exactly what I’d hoped for. The WiFi worked well, which is surprising, because my friends in other nearby hotels experienced issues with...
"The staff were very profesional and very helpful.
The hotel was very expensive for the dated decor and chipped paint and cleanliness wasn’t great
The furniture was very dated as well."
