"I love the Valley of Rocks! It's quirky, friendly, unique. PLEASE don't come here expecting posh hotel luxury. You'll be disappointed. No bar, no breakfast. On the evening I arrived there was no hot water (it was kind of fixed - warm water, anyway - the following day); the lift wasn't working; a broken sash cord in my bedroom window meant it didn't open. "Right in the center of town and an easy walk from the train station in Barnstaple. Everything is right there in walking distance and it's all just as funky and charming and welcoming as can be! The hotel's foundation has sunken a bit (or more in some places) which is charming but a little disconcerting if you're thinking you might fall out of bed!"

"The only thing we didn't like about this hotel was the limited parking at the hotel however saying that the nearby local station (tourist train) is free parking between 6pm and 9am so it wasn't a problem and we paid for an additional couple of hours the following morning at a cost of £2.50. "This is a beautiful gem of a hotel. It was like stepping back in time to the classic era. Staff were great! Both friendly and accommodating. Free car park is a bonus. "

"Loved the boutique decor and quirky nature of the building. The setting is perfect, right by the waterfront. Parking is a bit of an issue, so don't come back to the hotel until 4 pm, when parking is better ( fewer daytrippers). Bed was hard and pillows were not very comfortable, but that was only my taste. Breakfast was very good with a nice buffet and choices for cold and hot cooked food. "
