Shrewley Tunnel, Grand Union Canal, Warwickshire This is the approach to the south-east portal. Shrewley Tunnel is wide enough for seven foot beam narrowboats to pass by each other in the tunnel, which is 433 yards in length (396 metres). The canal opened in 1799.
