"Property was in an excellent area of The Cabot Trail and the fee given all the other options was fair! Unfortunately our mattress was like sleeping in a box spring, way too hard! We didn’t have breakfast there bc of other reviews and felt it was too expensive for what you get! Staff was lovely and for a cottage like atmosphere it was very clean and quiet!"
"Stayed two nights in mid-October 2026. Toured the area during the day, so only used the hotel to sleep and shower.
GOOD: fair price point $176/night for two queen bed room (all places in the area are +$200 - high), clean, functionable, comfortable beds, good cable TV channels, great parking, quiet nights.
BAD: hot water would be totally non-existent at times in the evening (ice cold), no fridge, no telephone.
Did not eat at restaurant so cannot comment. Not much contact with staff, so cannot...
"Great location along the Cabot Trail with ocean views - the only plus I think. The floors were freezing cold - definitely not insulated. Scorching hot water from the taps but the shower hot water was warm at best and then turned cold. Mattress had...
"This was everything we hoped it would be. Unique, private, clean, well equipped as it should be and convenient to the North coast for all the beauty and wilderness it has to offer. Everything worked except for the weather which no one can control. When I come back to Cape Breton, I will be booking Blue Bayou again and well in advance since it will soon be a must for thousands of Cabot Trail visitors throughout the season."
"Very clean. They had room to make the shower bigger, so that would have been nice, but
not a deal breaker. Great view, beautiful property. Invested hosts. Sheer curtains or windows cling to allow light in whike maintaining privacy, would be nice. Ice machines. Though the host provided ice which was great . Would recommend"
"Beautiful, new, clean, comfortable beds & linens, microwave, fridge. Keurig coffee maker with fresh milk/cream in the fridge, which was a lovely touch, as I hate coffee creamers. Laundry available after 5pm, which again is a nice perk when traveling for an extended time."
