We stayed for one night on a 24 hour layover so it suited our needs. I wouldn’t want to stay here for several nights. The TV was very small and difficult to watch. The bathroom was small but the shower was strong!"

The property is a vintage hotel look but could use some updating in rooms with some fresh carpeting and maybe some repairs to some of the walls. Overall very clean. Staff was very helpful. "My stay at Hotel Vice Rei was wonderful! If you are good on foot, everything is within a walkable distance. Walking to Rua da Cedofeita and Rua do Rosário takes around 15–20 minutes (10–15 if you're a quick walker like me).
Just like other reviewers said, the hotel is a bit outdated, but that doesn't take away from its charm; it brings a warm, cozy vibe. Just be mindful of a bit of noise from the pipes/toilets.

"This was a very cute little apartment in a great area of town. We enjoyed our stay, but it did feel a bit like we were renting from a cheap landlord. There were a fair amount of small things that felt like could be fixed quickly on the property but weren't: There was a nail sticking out of a floorboard in a high traffic area, the shower head holder was broken so you had to hold it yourself, the shower wouldn't drain so you had to pause your shower every 2 minutes to let it catch up - and I think...
"This is a hidden gem and the price is right with parking. A vintage concept and ahead of its time. All the necessities required and very clean. Staff are friendly so we stayed an extra day. We would have come back but all booked up thanks"
"We stayed at Ibis Porto São João for two nights and found the location very convenient, with Uber making it easy to get around. The room was simple but very clean and had what we needed for a short stay. The garage was also easy to access.
The best feature was the small mall underneath the hotel, accessible directly by a connecting staircase. It had several places to eat and a laundromat, which was especially handy during our trip. Breakfast was okay."

"This is a fantastic place to stay, I highly recommend it. Very cute and colourful aesthetic, every area was clean. Staff super helpful. The man at the front desk carried my very heavy suitcase up the stairs for me. A little bit noisy but that’s to be expected as it is a hostel- ear plugs at night will work wonders. Hot water at all times, comfortable and clean beds. Just overall a great stay"
