"Way overpriced for what it was. While the garden and the services were good, it’s not a working temple for monks. It’s more like an inn for tourists in a temple structure. The morning Buddhist service gave me the feeling that it was just catered for tourists. By all means check out Koyasan during the day but you would be better off staying outside the mountain for a fraction of the cost. There’s nothing extra zen about staying at this place. "

It's a bit out of the way, so make sure when planning your way there you follow the shuttle instructions or have another way of getting there via car or taxi. "This will have to be my most favorite part of my trip to Japan. You will have to intentionally come here for the temple stay. First and foremost, the facility will ONLY ACCEPT CASH payment for the stay. Though my wife and I were not too fond of the shared wash rooms to wash up. I don’t believe the facility has rooms with private wash rooms. The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. They offer traditional breakfast and dinner(vegan friendly, though I am not, very delicious!). Wake up...

"This was a beautifully authentic Japanese house in a beautiful setting. The owner is the architect and he did an amazing job with design and upkeep. When he found out we were arriving by train, he picked us up at train station and dropped off on our way out and helped us with our tickets to Tokyo. We loved our stay!!!!"
