"A cheap and cheerful night on the outskirts of Derby. The hotel is rather hidden away and not well signposted.
I checked in, room was clean with tea/coffee available.
The rooms are single storey, bungalow style

"It's a privately run hotel and the staff are fully attentive and engaging. This can be seen by the number of local people who use the place as a social meeting place too. Brilliant friendly banter the whole of our stay."
"I really enjoyed our stay at the lodge and overall we had a very good experience. The inside was above our expectations. The rooms were newly refurbished, clean and comfortable, and the kitchen and dining areas were also really nicely done. The beds were comfortable and everything felt fresh and well looked after.
The caretaker was extremely helpful and supportive throughout our stay, and we received really good customer service, which made us feel very welcome.

"Lovely room, perfect for relaxing after a day out walking. Chosen because it was dog friendly and it did not disappoint - good for walking into town and loved that there was a map showing us how to get there by avoiding the main road. Breakfasts were delicious! Thank you for our stay."
"The room was spacious, and provides was a complimentary breakfast and beverages to drink.
The ensuite is a nice large size.
Car parking can be a bit of a squeeze if there are guests with cars staying in all of the flats.
There was good friendly communication with the owner most of the time.
The WiFi was working, but for some reason not the smart TV. Maybe a previous guest messed it up.
The house is on a good bus route, with a stop across the road and regular buses into Derby city...

If you're looking for 5 star accommodation this is not for you. More focused at the lower end of the scale."
"I go away with work most weeks and this has to be up there with one of the best places I have stayed in. Would love to come back in the summer. I’ve now booked up for my third successive week. The kitchen is perfect, plenty of work space and well laid out. Bit of confusion over the microwave until I realised it was built into the oven. Maybe do with a washing machine. Great surroundings and a great place to stay."
"Beautiful classic Georgian country Pub. Big comfortable room with a huge bathroom.
The bed was also big and comfortable.
We didn’t eat at the pub so cannot comment on that, but the village has several nice places to eat."
"We will never stay onsite at Alton Towers again if this property is available! Closer to the park entrance than hotels, no need to battle the monorail crowds.
Georgina the owner was extremely friendly & her communication for check in was excellent. The home itself was newly renovated to an exceptionally high standard. Perfectly clean with all the amenities provided for a short stay. Highly recommended and we will definitely be booking again if lucky to find it available."
"I live near Southampton and run a company based near Stoke and this is my favourite perch; the kitchen lets me eat normally as I tend to keep strange hours. Just right size and facilities for me. Could just as well be a perch for a countryside break. Highly recommended "
