If you're staying a night, its facilities are unusually generous and extensive; if you're eating, the menu and the food are great; and if you just want a drink, there's a bar area and plenty of seating outside. If you can tear yourself away, visit Wayland's Smithy a couple of miles away along the Ridgeway."

"First, you can't check in till 5pm. Second, the shower is small and slippery when wet. When I mentioned that I'd nearly fallen twice and it needed a non-slip mat, I was told can't be done as this would be an admission that there is a problem. Plus, the light in the bathroom is on a motion sensor timer and kept cutting out leaving me in the shower, in the dark. "Warm welcome when we arrived and shown to our room which was very spacious and clean with a beautiful view from our balcony of the river and surrounding fields. Food was excellent and a good choice of beers. Dog friendly which was very important to us. Park and Ride to Bath CC was so convenient and close by. We will definitely stay at the Boathouse next time we visit Bath"

"We were given a full tour of the boat we had reserved with instructions on how to start the engine to make hot water, starting the furnace, etc. but the number of beds had unexpectedly changed (Cru Houseboats was under new ownership since we booked our stay) and the requirements for operating the boat did not appeal to us so we did not stay there. The staff were extremely helpful in finding a hotel late in the day that was close by. "
