"The River Hotel is a very charming small hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are roomy and comfortable. The breakfast was very good, like homemade, and the hospitality was excellent. The negatives are that it was quite hot (heatwave) with no air conditioning, and the considerable noise of the road/bridge work right outside the window. They did provide fans. "Great location for peace and quiet and walking into and around abingdon. Rooms basic but nice, mattresses could be more comfortable but were acceptable and the breakfast great and plentiful. My second and definitely not last visit."

"Delightful accommodation in a beautiful village pub. As a family of three, we stayed in the Superior Suite, Room 4. Our window view was a charming old church. Room/linen was spotless, towels were hotel quality, powerful shower, comfy beds, amazing cooked breakfast and kind hosts. No pub noise and we stayed on a Fri and Sat night. It's very quiet. Safe car parking right outside too. Dog friendly. Great location if visiting Cotswolds/Diddly Squat and The Farmer's Dog. Wish we could have stayed...

"I stayed 2 nights at The Bell Inn, and found it to be quiet and comfortable. Tucked away from the crowds, but within easy reach of all the charming Cotswold villages. The food was also tasty. They do an included continental breakfast of yogurt, granola, fruits, croissants, and jam. But ordering dinner there is worthwhile. Nice place for a pint and a pizza."

"We visited during a heatwave and inquired about air conditioning. They said there was none but assured us there would be a fan. We arrived very late because our train was delayed only to find no fan and a room hotter than 30 degrees. Only one small window opened - the others were painted shut. There was no one on the premises to help and we did not think we could call at midnight. So we spent a sleepless and frustrating night in a tiny, cramped, suffocatingly hot room"
