"Middleham is a beautiful place to stay and to enjoy walking and a bit of wild swimming. The place oozes character. Richard III boasts age and character, so don’t stay here if you want modern. No breakfast included which we hadn’t checked, but there is a lovely tearoom but 2minutes walk away, racing stables close by so plenty of thoroughbreds trotting through the centre. I found the place delightful."

I was advised it was shutting within 3 days so had to walk to sister hotel 5 minutes away for breakfast. Shared toilet and shower with 2 other rooms. "Very reasonable price but we struggled to find horizontal surfaces on which to place phones, wallets and glasses. A couple of small shelves here and there would be greatly appreciated. Likewise, in the absence of wardrobes, options to hang clothes were limited; a few coat hooks on the walls would be a great improvement and take the pressure off the rack on the door. "Large bedroom and recently modernised en-suite. All clean and tidy. Nice and warm (4 day stay in January). Breakfasts were excellent and the food available for the evening meals in the pub part of the hotel was also good. All of the staff were warm, friendly and helpful. The car park is big.
