River Trent at Alrewas, Staffordshire. Seen from Alrewas lock on the Trent and Mersey Canal. The walkway on the left is the towpath bridge across the river, which is entering from the left. The metal piling on the right allows firm mooring for narrowboats waiting to go into Alrewas Lock and into the canal. About three hundred metres round the bend to the right, a large weir allows the canal to continue to the north of the river, which continues to the east. Narrowboats must not be taken onto this river section when it is in flood.
