"A cheap and cheerful night on the outskirts of Derby. The hotel is rather hidden away and not well signposted.
I checked in, room was clean with tea/coffee available.
The rooms are single storey, bungalow style
There is parking right outside of the rooms"
"Upon arrival to Splash Landings we went to the bar to order drinks. Over 10 minutes later we still had no drinks as the barman could not operate the till or simply pour a slushy.
When we had breakfast in the morning it took longer to find a clean plate than it did to get breakfast.
The beds were very hard and uncomfortable but we were only staying one night so we made do.
I always strip the beds after we stay over at hotels to help the domestic staff and I was utterly disgusted by the bedding...
"Nice clean rooms.
Friendly staff.
Nice pub.
Good breakfast.
Perfect for Buxton stop over. 2minute walk from Opera House for gig we were at.
And parking nearby."
"I really enjoyed our stay at the lodge and overall we had a very good experience. The inside was above our expectations. The rooms were newly refurbished, clean and comfortable, and the kitchen and dining areas were also really nicely done. The beds were comfortable and everything felt fresh and well looked after.
The caretaker was extremely helpful and supportive throughout our stay, and we received really good customer service, which made us feel very welcome.
There are just a couple of...
"Lovely room, perfect for relaxing after a day out walking. Chosen because it was dog friendly and it did not disappoint - good for walking into town and loved that there was a map showing us how to get there by avoiding the main road. Breakfasts were delicious! Thank you for our stay."
" My experience at Students Only Hollis Croft was very disappointing. Despite booking well in advance, I had to follow up several times before my reservation was confirmed. On arrival, the room had multiple issues: the mattress was not just uncomfortable — it was painful to sleep on. I ended up laying on top of the duvet and even some of my clothes just to make it bearable. The pillows lacked support, the hob did not work, the kettle socket was faulty, and the tap leaked.
I reported these...
"The room was spacious, and provides was a complimentary breakfast and beverages to drink.
The ensuite is a nice large size.
Car parking can be a bit of a squeeze if there are guests with cars staying in all of the flats.
There was good friendly communication with the owner most of the time.
The WiFi was working, but for some reason not the smart TV. Maybe a previous guest messed it up.
The house is on a good bus route, with a stop across the road and regular buses into Derby city...
"Hotel in dire need of redecoration throughout.
Carpets dirty, bathrooms tired, cleanliness debatable.
If you're looking for 5 star accommodation this is not for you. More focused at the lower end of the scale."
