"Warm welcome and a clean and comfortable room in this friendly guest house a short walk from central Penrith. Great advice on transport from the owner and delicious breakfast served in our room. Nothing more needed for a relaxing stay."
"I have nothing to compare it with as this is my first experience of youth hostels in 40 years. I was impressed. I loved the open area, bar and restaurant. The dormitory was excellent. Beds were well spaced, ample plug sockets, mattress & pillows excellent. Clean sheets and super mattress. The bed was as good as any 5 star hotel. Honestly. The shower was clean but a little small. The facilities in the kitchen were good but some of the pans had loose handles. The staff clearly clean but somehow...
"After a long day of Hadrian Wall walking all we wanted was a shower, alas ran out of hot water after 5 min. I’ve never run out of hot water at a hotel before anywhere in UK until now. And it didn’t warm up again until following morning. Very really disappointing to say the least.
Also, our room didn’t have a door in the bathroom area. Just a toilet right around the corner from the bed, not even a sliding partition. We’ve been married a long time but still don’t crap together. I would bet $ the...
"You don't get good feeling when you get into the room and there weren't shampoo/body wash (delivered next morning). There is no reception and a call to the hotel, it was received by property manager. She mentioned that we didn't had the reservation from Expedia but upon insisting, she found it and took 10 mins to arrive for letting us in. For the price, it's not what I had expected from the room & amenities"
"Beautiful room, bathtub to soak my tired legs, great food and friendly staff. Couldn't recommend anymore if I tried as it's definitely the best place in the town."
"We had a great time at Lanehead Old School - stopping here for one night as part of our C2C route. Lisa was beyond accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure we were ok, fed and watered.
Thank you Lisa for being so accommodating and welcoming."
"Fantastic place to stay and you are also supporting the fire fighters charity amazing place and ideal location will definitely be returning in the future 👍"
"We recently enjoyed a stay that had both positive aspects and a few areas that could use some improvements
Positive Aspects
One of the highlights of our experience was the **excellent communication from the host**. They were very responsive and provided clear instructions for check-in and check-out, which made the process smooth and hassle-free. It was reassuring to know that we could reach out if we had any questions or concerns during our stay.
Areas for Improvement
While we had a lovely...
"Pros:
The house has everything we need! The host even prepared ice cubes and a bottle of milk for us. The house is very clean and tidy and spacious with three bedrooms available to sleep 6. It has all the amenities including dishwasher tablets, all cleaning stuff as well as all kitchen stuff. The host even had drawing books for kids. It is so comfortable sitting in the living room area enjoying the balcony view of a large grassland.
Cons:
Check-in instruction is not exactly clear that where to...
