"There was an issue at check in regarding our family room whereby the expedia booking info hadn't pulled through correctly to the hotel. I would recommend emailing the hotel after booking to reconfirm everything. The family room was a decent size, although towels were stained and the free mini's were half used. The pool facilities were lovely. The pool was a little chilly, but jacuzzi very nice and warm."

"Only stayed one night but will definitely be returning.set in an ideal position for visiting Central Shrewsbury. Room was dated but as expected from a 15th century building.lovely comfortable 4 post bed and clean shower area.Pub was friendly and welcoming and food was delicious.We had a very enjoyable short break."

"5th stay here. Always a lovely visit. Highly recommend breakfast. Clean room and nice amenities. Had to use the overflow parking around the back. But its a better spot less crowded and very handy if you're staying in the annex building which we prefer."

"Room and hotel were gorgeous. The restaurant was the only area that needs improvement. After ordering food, we waited 55 minutes and noticed people after us were getting theirs first. When we asked, or order hadn’t been sent to the kitchen. Staff were apologetic and it didn’t ruin the night. We also only had one towel in the bathroom to use after showering but the room was beautiful and immaculate."

"Staff were lovely and helpful. We spent lots of time in the pool / steam room/ gym which were good and also not too busy like some spa hotels, plenty of space for everyone in there. We didn't eat breakfast or dinner so I can't comment on food. The only negative I have is that our rooms were a bit tired, the furniture was old and the rooms could do with a coat of paint. However everything was clean, the rooms were a nice size and I had a good night's sleep so it didn't spoil our experience and I will definitely come back."

"The staff were lovely. Terrific with the kids, and bent over backwards to accommodate. Hotel was very pleasant for a budget hotel. Will stay again for sure."
The Lion Hotel Shrewsbury

"We stayed for one night. It was a little warm in the room, but we discovered a fan in the cupboard. Generally a comfortable stay in a good location to get to a show at Theatre Severn. Plenty of restaurants nearby too. Parking was an essential and at £5 per night was reasonable. We hear the hotel is changing hands soon. I hope the standards are kept high."
