We loved staying here! The bed was so comfortable! The breakfast was great! Service was fabulous! It did not have an elevator and the kind man at the desk carried our bags up for us! That’s service!

While planning our trip to the UK, my daughter and I wanted to either stay at a Manor house or Castle. Middlethorpe Hall was the perfect choice. It is several miles outside York, but less than 10 minutes by uber or taxi. The staff was gracious and solicitous. We arrived just in time for tea. The food was fantastic, generous, and the location in the the ball room facing the beautiful green lawn was exactly what we had hoped for. hotel/bed and breakfast has nice friendly atmosphere, excellent breakfast, and is in walking distance of old town York. Only issue is limited parking in back, but they managed somehow by having cars that were leaving earlier closest to exit path. Helpful with things like where to get laundry done, where to go for meals, and unusual sites in old town that we would have never thought of. Will definitely stay there again.

The property was located in a very nice little city outside of Edinburgh. It was only a short walk to the train to Edinburgh. Our host was very informative about things to do and see. The property was well maintained and very clean. I will stay there again if I ever get back to Edinburgh. A car is not necessary, which was wonderful. As an American who is not used to left hand driving on narrow lanes, I was happy to keep my rental car parked until we left for England.

We stayed three nights at the Rose and Crown in August 2016. We were welcomed by Johnny, the accommodations manager who immediately showed us to our room, and then helped us carry up our luggage. A beautiful top-notch property in York. Centrally located a 4 minute walk from the train station and 8/9 minute walk to York Minster and old town York. Plenty of stores and eating facilities all within walking distance. The hotel itself and attentive staff plus very spacious and well appointed rooms made our stay a real pleasure. Definitely a 5 star plus!!

We decide to stay at Molton, not York due to the relatively higher price of the York hotel and our trip plan. It proves to be a good choice. The property located in a small and quiet town with about 10-15 minutes walk to the railway station. It may look normal from outside but when you step in, you would be impressed by the warm and cozy atmosphere. The first floor is the restaurant and a bar, with so many selections.
