Vacation in the countryside

Calm, fresh air, green meadows, vastness, wooded valleys, sunsets and cloud pictures await you. A journey to breathe, hike, relax, cook, read and experience nature can begin.

Rohnstadt is embedded in a kind of high plateau on the northern edge of the Hintertaunuse, approx. 50 km from Frankfurt am Main. From this charming bird's nest, day trips can be made to the Feldberg, to the Weilburg zoo, or to the Vogelburg near Rod an der Weil. Visits to the Weilburger and Braunfelser Schloss, to the Limburg Cathedral, or to the Lahn are easily possible by car.
In recent years, the Weiltal route has become interesting for cycling again.

You will find a bright maisonette apartment with two double bedrooms and separate bathrooms. The maisonette was renovated and refurbished by summer 2015. The lower bedroom is followed by a small, covered balcony with a view of the garden, the village and the adjacent meadows. The upper bedroom and the open living area open up with a west-facing balcony, wonderful views of the sunset.
The apartment entrance is to the north, to the street. A fully equipped kitchen is integrated there.
A mix of carefully selected furniture of different styles, small craftsmanship, friendly colors and fabrics, as well as a fully functional kitchen frames your stay.

The neighborhood describes itself as a quiet residential area. It is lively when a wedding is celebrated in the village community center at the weekend, when the neighbors come to my garden for the walnut harvest in October, or when the children play on the street. A place with 286 inhabitants might be compared to the noise level of a bumble bee that brushes your ear only briefly. Birds chirp and fly around the house all day. In summer you can hear the crickets chirping in the garden in warm weather.
In the village you get farmhouse bread and homemade sausage, Hof Ramshardt, on Mondays and Fridays.
The Bürgerhaus Rohnstadt opened again in September 2017. Culinary you can look forward to Italian and German cuisine there. The bowling alley in the community center helps you get back to fitness after eating. In the main municipality of Weilmünster you can shop every day. The Pastori, a program cinema with a restaurant, offers a change from the homemade.
In summer 2015, after the construction work, I enjoyed sitting in La Collina, with pizza and wine / Weilmünster. The portions are huge, the prices and the service very friendly. And in summer you have a fantastic view of the sunset, wheat and cornflower fields, as well as the surrounding small hills.
If you want to take a bath, visit the outdoor swimming pool in Weilmünster.
This summer I have to visit Altweilnau, about 12km away. Friends say there is a network of cabaret and activities there.
A private art collection has opened in Weilburg since spring 2017. The so-called Rosenhang Museum. I am also looking forward to the impressions there. Combined with a visit to the baroque palace or a summer visit to the palace concerts, you can combine some nice hours there.
In the Wilstal valley a hiking trail leads from Weilburg to Schmitten, 47 km you could hike in stages through the valley. The Wilstalbus also takes you to your hiking destinations, but always at intervals of 1 to 2 hours.

In Villmar and Aumenau you can go paddling on the Lahn. Or you can spend a more leisurely day in the water in summer in the outdoor pool in Weilmünster.
