Von dem um 1850 aufgegebenen Weiler zeugen nur solche Mauerreste, die zeigen, wie die Natur menschliche Siedlungen zurückbaut und sie sich zunutze macht. Die Reste von Unterferdinandsdorf liegen laut Karte am Rand des Landschaftsschutzgebietes „Reisenbachtal“ (Schutzgebiets-Nr. 2.25.001). Laut dem offiziellen Schutzgebiets-Steckbrief zählen die Ruinen mit zum Landschaftsschutzgebiet („Tief eingeschnittenes Odenwaldtal mit Mauerresten der 1850 abgegangenen Siedlung Ferdinandsdorf“ – hier muss Unterferdinandsdorf gemeint sein, denn Oberferdinandsdorf lag ein ganzes Stück südwestlicher).

"What caught our eye about this listing was the sort of 70’s vibe it had. So cute! The hosts were very accommodating and they provided us with plenty of privacy. This listing has so much space, especially for two people. We did wish there were blinds or more drapery in the bedroom window, which is in front, for a bit more privacy for dressing. "Clean, updated quiet rooms, good location. Staff were pleasant and helpful and spoke English. Convenient walk or quick ride on trams/buses to shopping, sites, train station. Can be a little noisy from street during peak traffic hours if window is open. Didn’t get a chance to try breakfast or happy hour, but it looked good."
