"Property is nice, but style is somewhat dated. I was getting a 2010 vibe. Just passing through Chaves, stayed for one night. Room was clean and we didn't have any issues. Only had interaction with front desk staff for check-in/out, and they were nice. Outside was a bit noisy at night, the property is right in front of a roundabout."
"What a find! The reviews said that some rooms were a bit tired and the food is good with generous portions.
So I thought I’d take a chance. It was good value especially compared to accommodation in Spain, where I had just been.
The room was excellent - one of the largest rooms that I’ve stayed in. Food really was superb - really well cooked and generous portions. I was able to park my motorbike in a locked compound which has also has a security camera.
The spa had Turkish and Swedish saunas, a small pool and an area to lounge around - great at the end of the day after enjoying the roads. The Portuguese roads!!! Wonderful bends and (in March) very few people on the roads.
And great value.
What’s not to like? All I can say, is what a find – thoroughly recommended. "
"It's a calm, casual place with class. Good restaurant. But its more a mix of old and modern than the photos makes you believe. Bedrooms and restaurant are in moderne additions, but it works well."
"it is a very Morden well designed hotel in a small town of Valpaços...big spacious rooms with a great view.. The hotel has a small SPA at a small extra fee"
"super cold room during arrival - AC set to 19 deg...but i think it was even colder
issue with electricity at morning
empty shower gel in shower - observed late night (before sleep) when i was wet in shower already"
"My husband and I booked two rooms so we could each take calls and work in the evenings.
When we arrived, the restaurant had no electricity, so only salad was available. We’d just cycled 90km, so that was disappointing but understandable.
Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. Not long after checking in, the Wi-Fi stopped working (and stayed down for the rest of our stay), and the power outage that had affected only the restaurant spread to the entire hotel. Electricity was out for most of the night — about 90% of our stay — leaving us unable to work as planned. We had to use our phones as hotspots (costly since we don’t have a global data plan) and sit in the dark with limited laptop battery.
We checked with reception several times but received no communication or updates. When we checked out, no one asked how our stay was, and there was no apology or acknowledgment of the situation. Hotels.com also reached out on our behalf, but the hotel declined to offer any compensation or even a note of apology.
For a property that advertises itself as five stars, this was extremely disappointing. Power issues can happen, but how a hotel handles them makes all the difference — and the complete lack of communication or customer care here was unacceptable.
Would not recommend."
"Lovely modern hotel in convenient location for touring the area. Big car park. Great pool. No food served between 6pm and 8pm. Great bar menu until 6pm. "
