The Battle of Stiklestad

Clean, safe, quiet and good service. The food was tasty, too. There are two things that make this hotel really neat. (1) The hotel is in the same building as the Stiklestad National Cultural Center, and it is hard to distinguish one from the other. The cultural center focuses heavily on the historical "Battle of Stiklestad," in which King Olaf II of Norway died in battle. The cultural center and hotel are full of works of art and images related to the battle, some of which are directly across from the hotel's rooms on the first floor. Likewise, the hotel is adjacent to a monument for Olaf and the Stiklestad Church located on the site where, legend has it, Olaf was killed. The cultural center hosts a number of events/performances through the year. (2) On a very different note, the building of the hotel and cultural center is a work of neat Modern Architecture, with curving walls and board-marked concrete reminiscence of the work of architects like Marcel Breuer and Eero Saarinen. The fireplace in the middle of the building was particularly striking. --- On a very minor note, the shower in the bathroom of the hotel room was poorly designed; the shower curtains don't prevent water from splashing out around the bathroom.

Fancy hotell i en historisk atmosfære og i rolige omgivelser. Her kan man riktig slappe av. Fint med kunstutstillingene i hotellets lokaler! Et pluss også for rikelig med gratis parkering.

Topp mottakelse og info fra resepsjonisten! Men maten ble kald fordi vi måtte bruke mer enn en time i telefonkø for å finne ut at den eneste ledige billaderen var ubrukelig (sikringen var gått) - og det kunne ingen ordne. En knekt slange til dusjen !

Kan varmt rekommendera detta hotell.

Ligger otroligt vackert till i ett lugnt och fint område. Stor parkering alldeles intill. Trevlig personal. Fick ett rum helt i min smak med mörka lugna färger på väggarna. Rent och fräscht. Välisolerat, så man hörde knappt nåt utifrån eller från andra hotellgäster. Restaurangens lax med vitvinssås, och ryggbiffen med rödvinssås blev pricken över i:et. Frukostbuffén likaså.
