"Our stay was absolutely lovely & memorable! With 2 veterinarians in our family (soon 3, with son having 6 months to go in veterinary school), we felt right at home in the land of James Herriot. Our charming, 2nd floor room was located in "The Mews," the rear, off-street section of hotel. We deduced our quiet room was part of the 18th-19th century hayloft above the hotel's original stable. This was a prominent coaching inn, with stabling for up to 60 horses! I can't say anything negative since our experience was amazing. The restaurant, pub & staff were great! The bath towel warmer was an added treat. Humorously, counter space was nonexistent, but it was easily improvised by moving the ironing board into the huge bathroom. Voilà!"

"The hotel reception, outside area, bar and restaurant were all great. The room was clean, the bathroom had been updated and was fine. The windows needed drastic attention, we could not move them due to the state of repair, I assume there is some sort on 'listed building status' but they really need attention. The location and everything else was great."

"My wife and I were pleasantly surprised just how nice the hotel was, the staff were really nice and the room very comfortable and cleaned daily, it's an old building so it's not like a modern hotel but adds to the character with oak beams, the only downside was no lift so as we were on the top floor it was a bit of a haul with the suitcases but the view of the market square was quaint. However the breakfast is amazing, choice of cerials, juices, milks, tea, coffee, pastries, muffins, breads butters, jams and a toaster plus an extensive cooked breakfast menu or they will cook you any combination The village of Masham is small but well situated to travel around Yorkshire. We loved every day and visited Harrogate one day which has a lovely park"

"Lovely big room with ensuite facilites. Very nice crisp white bedding & soft, white towels. Breakfast was good & we had a lovely evening meal on one of the nights. The staff were friendly. Certain parts of the hotel would benefit with a freshen up but I guess that's down to finances and we still had a lovely time. Slightly confused by the breakfast times as they were different to the website which stated Saturday & Sunday breakfast was until 10.00am when it was actually 9.30am. This was our second visit, though it's quite a few years since our last stay, and we would return in the future."
