"The property was in a very convenient location and excellent staff and kaiseki breakfast and dinner. We were expecting a more modern and updated ryokan experience from the photos when we booked. Unfortunately the ryokan room that we booked was quite dated however the reviews with photos seemed to show a new and modern room. Saw another property with the same name, perhaps there are 2 different Kawaguchiya ryokan. "

"Staff were incredibly attentive and nice. Even with the language barrier they went above and beyond using Google Translate to explain the courses of our dinners and breakfasts, as well as information about the town. The hotel was slightly out of town (15mins walk) but they have a shuttle that was basically on demand. We wanted to go into town for the night and they dropped and picked us up at our desired time. "The location of the ryokan was great as it was just a few minutes walking from the station. It’s also very close to the most popular of the seven onsens. The staff are also extremely nice and the old lady who led me to my room and served me tea was very kind and caring. I highly recommend this ryokan for how good it is and a price that really can’t be beat. Also you get a pass to all of the onsens once you check in. Highly recommend "

"Very well maintained and nice stay. The family running the place is very kind, and provided us welcome tea and cookie upon checking in! The private open air onsen in the room we booked was amazing, at just the right temperature and automatically running and refilling. The location is perfect walking distance and in a central location to many of the public onsens and shops. Highly recommend!!"
