"At the time of this review, the hotel is undergoing significant modernisation, and while the available rooms are awaiting work, it's great to see the investment being put in. The work importantly also doesn't disturb guests, which is reassuring. All the staff we spoke to were very kind and helpful, and the rooms, sheets and towels all nice and clean. The shower in our old room was very fiddly to use and impossible to get the right temperature, and the room was very warm, but this will likely be addressed with renovations."
"ONly stayed for 1 night. Went through hotels app but it did not transfer my contact details correctly with the result hotel staff could not contact me.
Staff were fantastic and even though I arrived at 1030 and they had been working since 7am they were still smiling, warm and welcoming despite the long day.
Room was warm clean and very comfortable. BReakfast was great. Will stay again"
"The room we stayed in needs a bit of tlc (mainly in the bathroom), however in terms of the size of the room generally it was decent enough and clean (don't think we could have done more than one night)
The restaurant has a good variety of food and drinks (dinner / lunch) and the app is useful for ordering.
Breakfast was ok at best. Seem to have few staff working and the cooked breakfast was a bit hit and miss.
They could probably do with refreshing the continental breakfast bar menu as there was little on it and was fairly basic. "
"Room was very clean, staff lovely but pretty noisy. Rooms aren’t soundproofed at all (you can hear people going to the toilet as well as doors in the corridor) and the gap under the door lets light in. Very cheap and cheerful for an overnight stay. Wasn’t my worst night sleep ever but have slept better. "
"Really enjoyed our stay here. Staff so friendly and loved the way the building has been kept sympathetic to its past.
Coffee shop is great, as is the breakfast."
"Lovely room. Great evening meal & breakfast Easy free parking...We enjoyed our stay.
Hotel is in a great central position to the town....
Many thanks again..."
"When I came into the hotel and was given my room key, the first thing I noticed was the smell of dampness in the room. The carpet had burned marks all over it and stains and in places was missing carpet and built bar floor. The wallpaper was torn off the walls. The room was filthy dirty had not been cleaned and full of dust and dirt smoked disgusting so did the toilet and shower. There was sick and vomit on the side of the wall dried in there are multiple stains on the roof on the walls of the hotel room and over the bed. The mattress was completely filthy. Looked about 20 years old. I would not let a dog sleep in the room or even a cat the heating was switched off and did not work because of the pipework had been leaking. They were visible. Water stains all over the floor. All of the paint was peeling off the walls and ceilings and there was black mould on the windows of the hotel room. I went straight back to the hotel front desk and said the room is nothing like the ones in your photographs and I was told the hotel had not been redone for a long time and they know there is issues with the hotel and they’re trying to upgrade some of the rims when they can afford to do it however this is just the way their rooms are right now I asked and demanded to be moved to a different room. I was then shown another room which was even worse there is no elevator in the hotel room a lot of stairs and the hotel room smells of cigarettes and dogs and there was rubbish all through the hallwa"
