EXPLORE Munising Alger Falls
8/10 Good
"This was a great place for us while we explored the Pictured Rocks. It was clean and quaint and had all the basics. Very simple, cute decor. I will say there is quite a bit of road noise, even if you're in the second row, as you are right off of a busy road. The trails on property were nice but it was a little frustrating there was no indication of length or difficulty of trail - not too concerning for us as we are up for a little walk but I would worry about someone with mobility issues. Also, once making it to the firepit it was clear it has not been maintained - the lighter didn't work and the area looked a little neglected overall. Cute idea, poor execution and maintenance. Also, quite sure the fridge in our cottage was technically a wine fridge as even at its maximum coolness it was still not keeping things cold and we actually had to end up tossing a few things as they had spoiled. We had requested more firewood for our pit and were told it was coming later that day but it didn't arrive for another day. Don't get me wrong, this place was great for all the basics but definitely not the place if you are high maintenance or expecting "above and beyond.""
Roam Inn
10/10 Excellent
"The Roam Inn is a restaurant with an Inn built around it. Both are highly recommended. We stayed in Room 13, a roomy suite that faced the Bay. It was quiet and comfortable. The views are not spectacular here, so don’t get your expectations up. Breakfast is a sort of souped up continental breakfast, all very good. The hotel’s setup is a bit awkward: the registration desk is inside the dining room of the restaurant. A curious choice. We ate here on a Sunday night, and they were doing a brisk business. Fine, delicious food, super casual attire worn by all. But we arrived at 7 and didn’t have to wait."
