"In a week of rain we managed to find many dry days. The location of the village was outstanding with views of the loch and an abundance of birdlife ( I counted 40 species in the area in the week). Melfort has great access to the isles through Oban and the coastline along the A 816 offers opportunities for gardens (Arduaine) and loch views from Ardfern. "We had a wonderful stay at Melfort. A few days on our own, then joined by our daughters and baby grand daughter, we were cosy, warm and relaxed. The lodge was perfect, baby gates and highchair provided, and the pool lovely and warm, encouraged a swim every day! The staff are friendly and super helpful, even giving the wee one a present from Santa before she left! This was our third visit, and it definately won't be our last."

"Sadly we only had a very short 1 evening stay at this beautiful location. We would have enjoyed more time here. In that short time we received above and beyond care. I asked where we might be able to find ice when checking in. The nearest market was already closed for the evening. Olwen from reception was so nice. She said she couldn’t promise, but her husband might be able to help. An hour or so later her husband knocked on the door with our special delivery. So incredibly kind. Thank you...

"The parking was very easy and we felt the car was in s secure lot. The check in was fast and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean. The restaurant was very well organized and the food was very good. The continental breakfast waa delicious. Checkout was quick. The staff were friendly and professional."

"Staff were okay. Room was clean and comfortable. Didn't use the restaurant. Seemed like converted hotel. We had a normal room with view. Everything worked (hot water, outlets, etc.) Only stayed here on because convenient on our way to Isle of Skye. I would choose to stay here again if I had to redo."

"This hotel was okay, but nothing special apart from the lounge where the bar was and the fact that you can use the adjacent water facilities to a certain extent. However, I did think it was overpriced as the room wasn’t really any different from any other hotel room. The staff were helpful, my room was clean but there are a few cobwebs in the corners and the bathroom was a little tacky. I would imagine some of the rooms have a lovely view over the harbour but all I had was a bit of manky garden. Enjoyed the outdoor hot tub and it isn’t very far from the ferry terminal, so it’s quite convenient."

"Stayed at The Pier Rooms for 3 nights, highly recommend staying here. Literally a minute walk from train station and ferry terminal for visiting the nearby islands with the town centre and buses only a couple of minutes walk. My room was very clean with a kettle, bottle of water, tea, instant coffee etc. hairdryer. Air con was very good, not noisy. The housekeeper was lovely and very helpful as I hadn't received my entry instructions, she sorted it straight away. There's a swipe card for entry once your in the room which I preferred to using my phone. Bed was very comfortable, I slept very well. Shower was easy to use and I liked the rainfall style. I will definitely stay here again as suited my needs perfectly and I felt safe staying here as a female solo traveller."

"Lovely clean room, we didn't get a Loch view which was a shame but that's how it is. Room was ideal for our overnight stay Bed was comfortable but strangely small for a "double" bed The one disappearing thing was the lack of plugs in the room, there wasn't one anywhere near the dressing unit, where my wife would of used her hairdryer and straighteners, even with the extension lead we brought, she ended up sitting at the window with a shaving mirror. Not ideal."
