Nikko Kanaya Hotel

"A beautiful historic hotel right across from Nikko Park making it easy to visit the shrines and temples. The hotel offers a shuttle from the train station to its property. And the bus stop is a short walk down the hotel road to get to other areas. The staff were very accommodating and helpful. The rooms were large and affordable. I would definitely stay here again."

"The Knot is directly across from Utsunomiya train and bus stations. Everything was first class. The room was compact but functional. Lazuli Bakery has some of the best pastries we have ever enjoyed. We dined in the Lazuli restaurant each of our three nights at the hotel simply because we found the dishes intriguing and wanted to try everything. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Some feedback - the lack of vegetarian mains on the a la carte menu other than one pasta although Chef did accommodate a request for a variation on a sauce on our second visit. The persimmon and cream cheese entree made no mention that it came with Serrano ham - not great for my vegetarian partner but I thoroughly enjoyed it. No cups near the ice machine so you had to bring down a glass/cup from the room if you wanted ice. No option of a twin bed room which we personally prefer when travelling. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here."

The whole hotel has been renovated recently because everything was new, excellent and the buffet breakfast and dinners were great. "This is the hidden gem hotel in kinugawa area that I don't want to advertise to many non-Japanese tourists. I booked the biggest rooms on the top floor with open air bath tubs, and the experience was divine. Because six of us were here, hotel staffs offered private dining room for 6, and hospitality was the most top tier professional experience that I give massive applause to all the staffs. If I revisit Kinugawa, this hotel is my top priority spot."

"This property was very nice. Our room was typical Japanese size small partly because we had a single twin which is huge. I highly recommend getting the double twin room. In Japan a twin is more like a full or queen. The hotel buffet has something for everyone. We enjoy staying at the Tobu hotels. Our favorite is Tobu Hotel Levant in Tokyo. Utsunomiya Tobu Hotel Grande is a great stay. Its minutes walking to the Tobu-Utsunomiya Station too."
