"Sadly our bed (two singles combined) was in need of replacement as it was too soft and springy (we could feel the springs and the beds dipped in the middle. The toilet cistern dripped all night. There was nowhere to hang our bathroom towels - it needed a hook or two in the bathroom for this. I did report these issues calmly to the manager in the morning and she replied that no one else had reported these issues before! The breakfast was nice but we were surprised to only be given half a muffin with one egg - normally eggs Benedict comes with two muffin halves and two eggs. It was tasty though. The hotel was spotless and I complimented one of the housemaids when I saw her in the morning and she was grateful for the positive comment. Location is good, short walk to the centre of Boughton on the Water. I don’t normally complain when I stay anywhere but I was disappointed overall, which was a surprise to me as I had read great reviews."

"There was no tooth brush or toothpaste in the room, room in the loft too small for a 6ft man height wise. Apart from that everything was good, location perfect, friendly staff. "

"We stayed here for a week. The location of this place is perfect. You are walking distance from everything you want to see in Bourton. It is also close to beautiful walking paths to Slaughter villages, Stow on the Wold, Little Rissington, and Clapton on the Hill. On the book shelf there is a box that has information on various walking routes as well as books on Cotswold villages. The place also has plenty of board games and DVDs that my kids enjoyed. Parking can be a problem from 9 am onwards until 5 pm which is when people do day trips to Bourton on Water. You can find this place on VRBO and other sites but I got the best rate booking it via StayCotswold."

"We had a lovely stay in Well Cottage. The house is beautiful, very clean, has everything you would need in kitchen and bathroom. The location is great too! "

"A beautiful cottage, centrally located with parking. Lots of restaurants within walking distance of the cottage. Nice to have a garden aswell. Everything in good condition in the cottage."

"The room was generally clean, but the en-suite had quite a bit of mould across the ceiling and the shower felt cramped, despite the large cubicle, due to the shower itself being squashed into the corner of the cubicle.The furniture is somewhat 'distressed' , but the bed was very comfortable and the duvet was great. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast on our first morning was very good, however, on the second morning the fried egg yolks were hard, but the whites were runny and oily. Plenty of Tea bags and Coffee were supplied in the room, but only 4 small milk pots, which were not replenished. The Chestnuts is ideally located in the beautiful town of Bourton-on-the water, with plenty of pubs/restaurants. Parking can be a bit of a chore due to the small number of private spaces available to the B&B. You can park on the street for a maximum of 90 mins, although after 6 pm, you can park overnight free. We had a great short break and will definitely return to the Cotswolds, although probably not to this B&B."
